Ms Kelly set up Ireland's first myeloma support group, running monthly meetings to provide advice and support to patients, families and carers.
Mary Kelly is the Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Haematology for Dublin & Mid Leinster Region (incorporating Midlands Regional Hospitals, Tullamore, Mullingar & Portlaoise).
Ms Kelly set up Ireland’s first myeloma support group, running monthly meetings to provide advice and support to patients, families and carers.
She obtained her masters degree in 2006 from the National University of Ireland, Galway, completing her research thesis – Living with myeloma: An interpretative phenomenological study.
Prior to this, Ms Kelly trained in Redwood College of Nursing in the UK, before working in Oldchurch Hospital in Romford, St. Mary’s and St. Bart’s Hospitals in London, and also in The Blackrock Clinic, Dublin.
Her patient caseload includes myeloma, MGUS, ITP, Lymphoma, MDS and MPD and works regularly on National Myeloma Awareness week in Ireland. She has written several nursing articles on myeloma, and also helped develop the Myeloma Ireland website www.mymyeloma.ie
Mary Kelly is a board member of Multiple Myeloma Ireland and will open the upcoming MMI event on Thursday 14th November at 10am.
