Clinical Care

The MIRT clinical base is at the Mater Hospital Haematology Unit, serving a population of approximately 1 million people from inner city North Dublin to the border with Northern Ireland.

This busy unit performs level 3 malignant Blood Cancer care, including autologous stem cell transplant and high dose chemotherapy for Blood Cancers including Acute Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma and Lymphoma. Clinical activity at the unit is set to increase significantly over the coming years.

A new Haematology /Oncology ward with 38 hepa-filtered single, ensuite rooms is set to open in 2012, greatly increasing capacity.
